从“写形”到“写神”——评庄培芳近期的文化人肖像摄影作品

Zhuang Peifang, a quiet and charming photographer, has made gratifying achievements in recent years. His dedication is in commercial and contemporary culture photography.

As early as in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, traditional Chinese literary theory emphasized the dialectic of the relationship between form and spirit (expressions). Form and expression became important criteria for literary creation. From “form” to “expression”, not only reflects the progressive development of Chinese artistic concept, but also strengthens the cognition and performance of the artist's subject in the creation of artistic works. Recently, I saw the portrait series of "Cultural People in Zhuang Peifang's Eyes". You can see his thoughts on this issue, which is different from his early portraits.

庄培芳,一位文静内秀的职业摄影师,最近几年在商业摄影以外,致力于当代文化人的肖像摄影,取得了可喜的成绩。

中国传统文论早在魏晋时期就强调形神关系的辩证,写形、传神成为文艺创作的重要批评标准。从 “写形”到“传神”,不仅体现了中国艺术观念发展的递进,更强化了艺术家主体在艺术作品创作中对于对象本质特点的认知和表现。近日见“庄培芳眼中的文化人”肖像系列摄影作品,可以看出他对这个问题的思考,这与他早期的肖像作品已有所不同。

As a means of image recording originating from the West, the relationship between photography and technical equipment is more closely related to painting. However, in these portraits of Zhuang Peifang, the role of photographic technology equipment has been hidden. “The lens is my eye,” and the image of the work has become a selective expression of the image seen in his eyes.


作为源于西方的一种影像记录手段,相对于绘画而言,摄影与技术设备的关系显得更为密切。然而,在庄培芳的这些肖像作品中,摄影技术设备的作用被隐藏了起来,“镜头即我眼”,作品影像已经成为他眼中所见形象的选择性表达。

The way he faces the rich inner world of cultural people, grasps some corresponding points in their image characteristics and effectively conveys their fascination through the selective description of images are some of the keys to his successful work of arts. Zhuang Peifang has a certain degree of understanding of these subjects. Many of his photographs are completed during the communication with the subject, and the moments they think are the most worthy expressions. And thus, his works often has unique perspectives. He deliberately weakens those features that are not closely related to the character's thoughts, and even captures some elements of the inner emotional expression of the subject in a very simple way and exerts them. For example, he took the portrait of Frank Wilczek, the Nobel Prize winner in physics, and showed Frank's smile in a simple picture, conveying the simple and plain side of a famous scientist. Xiao Feng, former dean of the China Academy of Art, is a famous oil painter and art educator. His portrait captures the hand gestures when speaking. The dynamics of blurring make people focus on his face. His expression of fortitude seems to let the audience experience his teaching style in the classroom. The portrait of Oleg Tretyak, a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of the Russian Southern Federal University, depicts his engrossed expression while tilting his head down, his cheeks, his gaze and suggesting that another wonderful work will be born in his hands. The portrait of Professor Chen Zhenlian, vice chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and vice chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, is presented by a very simple silhouette technique. The reflection from the lenses of his spectacles seems to portray the wisdom and charm of this intellectual artist, and provides the audience with a rich space for imagination.


面对文化人丰富的内心世界,如何抓取他们形象特征中的某些对应点,有效地通过摄影语言对形象的选择性描写来传递他们的神采,是作品成功与否的关键。庄培芳对于这些拍摄对象大多有着一定程度的了解,他的拍摄很多是在与被摄对象的交流过程中完成,从中抓取到那些他认为最值得表达的瞬间,因此他的作品常常有独特的视角。他有意弱化那些与人物思想关联不大的特征,甚至采用非常简约的方式抓取被摄对象内心情感表现的一些元素并予以发挥。如他拍摄诺贝尔物理奖获得者弗兰克·维尔切克(Frank Wilczek)的肖像,以简单的画面表现了弗兰克谈吐间微笑的瞬间,试图传达一位著名科学家平实的一面。中国美术学院前院长肖锋,是一位著名的油画家和美术教育家,他的这幅肖像抓取了讲话中扬起手势的瞬间,虚化的动态让人把关注焦点集中到他的脸部,刚毅的表情似乎让读者看到他在课堂上给学生授课的风采。俄罗斯联邦大学美术学院OlegTretyak教授的肖像,则表现了他低头沉思、手抚面颊的姿态,凝神专注的神情或是暗示着又一件精彩作品即将在他的手上诞生。而中国文联副主席、中国书法家协会副主席陈振濂教授的肖像,则采用了极为简约的剪影手法,眼镜镜片的反光似乎在叙述这位学者型艺术家的睿智和魅力,给读者提供了丰富的想象空间。

As a professional photographer, Zhuang Peifang has his own photography design studio. At the same time, he spends a lot of time and energy, concentrating on learning and creating Chinese calligraphy and Chinese paintings, which is undoubtedly expanding and enriching his photography language. To a certain extent, his work has carried the branding of the traditional Chinese artistic thinking.

I hope that Zhuang Peifang’s cultural portrait photography will relentlessly continue to improve.


作为职业摄影师,庄培芳有自己的摄影设计工作室,同时,他又花费大量的时间和精力,潜心于中国书法和中国画的学习创作,这无疑是有效地拓展和丰富了他的摄影语言,使他的作品一定程度地打上了中国传统艺术思维的烙印。

He has long beenengaged in art theory teaching and subject research, as well as calligraphycreation. In the past ten years, as a major member, he participated in thecompilation of the relevant integration of the national cultural constructionkey project "Chinese ancient paintings", and was the deputy editor of"The Complete Works of Song Painting", "The Complete Works ofYuan Dynasty" and "The Complete Works of Ming Paintings".

金晓明,浙江大学中国艺术研究所副所长、中国古代书画研究中心副主任、教授。长期从事艺术理论教学和学科研究,兼及书法创作。近十年来作为主要成员参加国家文化建设重点工程《中国历代绘画大系》相关断代集成的整理编纂工作,为《宋画全集》《元画全集》《明画全集》副主编。

Zhuang Peifang, visual artist, editorial board memberof "China Design Yearbook", is now a special photographer of"Quanzhou Airport", a master instructor of the Art Institute ofHuaqiao University, a member of the Standing Committee of Huaqiao University YouthFederation, and the creative director of Zhuang Peifang Photographic DesignCo., Ltd., China Member of the Photographers Association, member of the FujianArtists Association. He has graduated from Huaqiao University, China Academy ofArt, and Fine Arts College. His work won the Sapphire Award of the 2016 SriLanka & China National Friendship Art Exhibition, the Best Art Award of theProvincial Party Committee of the Fujian Provincial Government, the BaihuaLiterature Award, the 2014 Shanghai International Photography Festival and the12th International Photography Art Exhibition of Shanghai, the 24th NationalPhotographic Art Exhibition Excellence Award, 2013 China Star Design Art Award,2010 Russia International Logo Biennial Award (TAMGA 2010), 2008 Art DesignExhibition Silver Award by the Fujian Artists Association. 庄培芳,华侨大学美术学院硕士研究生实践导师、华侨大学青年联合会常委、庄培芳摄影设计有限公司创作总监、中国摄影家协会会员。先后毕业于华侨大学、中国美术学院、美术报名家学院。作品获2016年斯里兰卡&中国国家友谊艺术展蓝宝石奖,2014年上海国际摄影节暨上海第十二届国际摄影艺术展览入选奖、第24届全国摄影艺术展优秀奖、2013中国之星设计艺术大奖金奖、福建省省委省政府最高艺术奖百花文艺奖,福建省美术家协会主办的艺术设计大展银奖等50多项国内外大奖。作品在中国美术馆、中国美术学院美术馆、斯里兰卡班德拉.奈克国际会中心、台湾科学工艺博物馆、浙江美术馆、杭州恒庐美术馆、福建省美术馆等展出,被UniversityofColombo科伦坡大学、泰国农业大学、台湾中原大学等收藏,并受邀到斯里兰卡、南非、俄罗斯等国家参展。
